Fire extinguished, human remains found

Burnt human remains have been found at the scene of a fire at a northern NSW rural
property, sparking a police investigation.
Fire crews were called to a property on Urliup Road at Bilambil about 6.30am (AEDT)
on Friday.
On arrival firefighters found a house and adjoining caravan on fire, both of which
were destroyed in the blaze.
As forensic investigators examined the scene, they found the remains of a human body.
Police are yet to reveal the victim's gender. The body was due to undergo a post
mortem examination on Monday.
"Initial inquiries indicate the fire was deliberately lit," police said in a
statement, adding that numerous witnesses have been interviewed.
Anyone with information about the fire should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
