Pak Foreign Secretary to visit New Delhi
Islamabad, July 4 (PTI) - Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman
Bashir will visit India later this month to kick-off the fifth
round of the Composite Dialogue process between the two
countries.
"The two sides will exchange views on all eight
components of the Composite Dialogue and work out the schedule
of meetings for the next one year," Foreign Office spokesman
Muhammad Sadiq said Thursday.
Bashir will hold talks with his Indian counterpart
Shivshankar Menon in New Delhi on July 21-22.
The two countries resumed the composite dialogue during
External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee's visit to
Islamabad in May.
Sadiq, who accompanied Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood
Qureshi on his recent visit to India, told a weekly news
briefing that the environment during Qureshi's meetings with
Indian leaders had been "very warm, very friendly and very
receptive".
Pakistan has also called on India to provide a list of
Pakistani prisoners held in Indian jails as soon as possible,
Sadiq said.
In line with the recommendations of the bilateral
Judicial Committee on Prisoners, Pakistan handed over a fresh
list of Indian prisoners on July 1.
"However, we were informed that the Indian Ministry of
External Affairs was awaiting requisite information from
concerned offices to finalise their list," he said.
"We hope the list of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails
will be provided to us as soon as possible," Sadiq said.
The two countries had exchanged lists of prisoners
earlier this year, but these were described by officials on
both sides as incomplete. The Judicial Committee then
recommended that the two sides should exchange fresh lists on
July 1. PTI
