RI HAILS FREEING OF 15 FARC GROUP HOSTAGES IN COLOMBIA

Jakarta, July 3 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Government hailed the freeing of the 15 hostages of Colombian leftist querrilas and one of the hostages is former presidential candidate Ingris Betancourt.
"We happily welcome the freeing of the hostages who had been held for more than six years," spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Teuku Faizasyah, said here on Thursday.
Indonesia also condemned the use of violence either in the form of terrorism or something relating to politics for which the holding victims cannot be justified.
Betancourt (46), US advisor Mach Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansel and other 11 others (police and military) of Colombia were abducted by members of FARC group in February 2003.
Betancourt, abducted when he was campaigning as a Colombian presidential candidate, had two citizenships - French and Colombian. He was hostage of highest level.
A raid to free hostages, codenamed Jaque operation, in Guaviare province in Colombia succeeded in freeing all the hostages and capturing two members of the FARC group.
The success was particularly thanks to long and comprehensive preparations with the help of intelligence information from special atents who managed to infiltrade the FARC group.
The operation was staged by involving four helicopter crews plus nine disguised as guerrilas wearing t-shirts with Che Guevara's picture.
A number of world leaders and secretary general of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon also hailed the successful operation of the Colombian security forces.
