WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA

THE FIRST HAIRCUT
Traditionally the small child's hair was allowed to go uncut for a number of years. A boy had his first haircut at between three and five years, while a girls went unshorn until between four and six.
The hair would eventually be ceremonially cut for the first time on a strictly defined day in a special ritual that is centuries old, observed to the letter and serving as a promise of future prosperity and health.
At the first hair cutting ceremony, all the family is invited and made welcome. The child is given the place of honor at a table groaning with food. A person of a year adjudged propitious for the child sits at the northwest of the table.
