Workshop on MDGs 2nd national report to be launched soon
SANA'A, March 19 (Saba) - A
workshop on the 2nd national report for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is
to
be launched on Saturday in Aden governorate.
Undersecretary of Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed
al-Hawiri said that representatives of regional and international donor countries
and organizations
and civil society organizations would take part in the workshop.
The workshop to be launched by Planning and International Cooperation Minister
Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi is organized by the Planning Ministry and UNDP.
The second report aims to evaluate the Yemeni achievements third MDGs in Human
Development Index (HDI), combating poverty and unemployment, al-Hawiri said.
Eight goals Yemen has to achieve to realize third MDGs, which are to eliminate
poverty, hanger, achieve education for all, gender equality, women empowerment,
reduce child
mortality, improve maternal health and to develop international development
partnership.
Noteworthy, United Nations General Assembly will hold next September a general
review for the progress made by 192 states committed to achieve of the MDGs.
