WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA

(continuation)
Quite often one comes across Mongolian names that are made up of two words, one Tibetan and the other Sanskrit. Sometimes both words have the same meaning. For example, Radnaasuren is made up of the Sanskrit word radna (raksha, genius, guardian) and the Tibetan suren (genius).
There are also names which consist of Mongolian and Tibetan words combined (eg Olziikhand, which means princess of happiness) or of Mongolian and Sanskrit words (white diamond).
Some Mongolian names are related to a traditional occupation. For example, the name Khurga means lamb in Mongolian, and Ishgen means kid. They indicate the Mongolian regard for domestic animals, because animal husbandry has been the chief occupation of the Mongolian nomadic Mongolian for centuries.
