TRADE MINISTER APOINTS FIVE SURVEYORS TO VERIFY EXPORT OF MINING COMMODITIES

Jakarta, July 1 (ANTARA) - Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu had appointed five surveyors for a technical verification of the export of certain mining products under the minister's decree no
348/ M-DAG/6/2008.

Under the decree signed on June 27, 2008, the five companies are PT Sucofindo, PT Surveyor Indonesia, PT Carsurin, PT Geoservice and PT Citra Buana, assigned for a physical verification of certain mining commodities for export.

Their reports must also be submitted to the Ministry of Trade's foreign trade director general, the Director of exports of industrial and mining products, and to the director general of minerals, coal and geothermal energy at the ministry of energy and mineral resources, and the director of mineral and coal business development.

The reports carried the names and addresses of the exporters, the certain mining products, administrative validity of the sources of goods, goods specifications (HS number and post headings), volume, time of shipment and export destinations.

Previously, the ministry of trade demanded a technical verification of the export of all mining products, except oil and gas. The ruling on the verification was issued on May 5, 2008, and went into effect on July 5, 2008.

The verification is aimed at preventing illegal exports of mining commodities and reducing environmental damage due to illegal mining operations.
