Veep: New nuclear reactors to be constructed in Iran next year

Tehran, March 18, IRNA – First Vice President announced here Wednesday new nuclear reactors will be built in Iran next year, and country would continue its path regardless of oppressor powers’ interference.

Mohammad Reza Rahimi who was speaking with the media reporters after the end of the cabinet’s Wednesday meeting, reiterated, “Iran has from the very beginning (of its nuclear activities) announced that it intends to take peaceful advantage of the nuclear energy and that is not after manufacturing atomic bombs.”

He added, “In order to provide fuel for our reactors we needed assistance to acquire 20% enriched uranium, and we initially announced that we were willing to purchase it, but those who had declared their readiness for providing it for us turned their backs on us, after which in accordance with an order issued by the president we began efforts aimed at having access to nuclear fuel.”

The Veep, who is meanwhile the head of the National Committee for Combat against Economic Frauds, said, “The members of this committee have meetings twice a week and there are of course
representatives from the supervising organs at those meetings.

Pointing out that the major task of the said committee is fight against the land looters, he said, “There have unfortunately been lots of violations on the southern slopes of Elborz Mountain, and this committee, having strict orders from top IRI officials, is countering them severely.”

He added, “One of our moves has been planting trees during the Tree Planting Week in order to block the path for further illegal trespassing and land looting.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, focusing on delayed payments to the banks, he said, “we have introduced those who have had lots of delayed payments to the banks to concerned officials and a noticeable number of them have already referred to the banks to pay their overdue debts.

He added, “We intend to circulate these assets in our national economy, particularly injecting them into the fast benefit yielding corporations.”

Referring to the government’s promise to create 1.1 million new jobs in the upcoming Iranian New Year, 1389 (beginning on March 20th, 2010), he said, “In order to create that many jobs we are in need of banking facilities, which would be provided after receiving the delayed installments of the loans they have paid.

He added, “Meanwhile, at the country’s Credits Council we have reached agreement to decrease the unemployment rate down to 8% during the course of the next year.”

He stressed the need to counter those who have two jobs simultaneously, and its importance for providing jobs for the youth, noting that “The government has issued a state order that one person cannot be gaining salaries from two different organs, and in other to counter the people that have two jobs.”/end
