PRESIDENT MEETS CIVIL REPRESENTATION
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ President Ts. Elbegdorj received Tuesday some citizens and NGO representatives.
At his meeting with representatives of the Pathology Center for diseases caused by tobacco and alcoholic, the President said that an issue of alcoholism is a socially negative matter related to security of Mongolian people. "This security is directly connected with the security of Mongolia," he noted. "We will steadily struggle against alcoholism. We will support initiatives and actions of your organization," Mr Elbegdorj added.
According to a study of the Center, about 20 percent of adult men and 5 percent of adult women in Mongolia are addicted to alcoholic drinks. The center has drawn up a strategy fighting against alcoholism. A series of lectures "Love Mongolians" is conducted now by the Center with the aim of making people understand the consequences of alcoholism.
Then, the President held a meeting with a representation of the Mongolian Pupil's Association. It helps pupils to spend their spare time fruitfully and protects their rights and interests. The NGO representatives suggested that an award named after President should be given to 10 best students every year. Mr Elbegdorj welcomed this initiative and expressed his readiness to co-operate in developing pupils and to support their public participation.
