Ex-Crown Prince Paras plans to buy property in Singapore
Kathmandu, July 1 (PTI) - Nepal's former Crown Prince
Paras, known for his playboy character and care-free life
style, plans to buy a property in Singapore and settle down
there, media reports said Monday.
Paras, son of deposed King Gyanendra, is planning to
purchase a flat in Singapore for his family and is also
considering to invite his children after spending a couple of
weeks in a hotel, Naya Patrika daily said.
The former heir to throne, whose dream to become the
King of Nepal has been shattered after his father's bid to
seize absolute power through military strength boomeranged,
accompanied by his wife Himani, has booked a seat on Silk Air,
the report said.
However, Hari Lamshal, editor of Rashtravani Weekly,
says that Paras is visiting Singapore, in connection with the
admission of his two small daughters Purnika and Krittika and
8-year-old son Hridayendra in a school, who were removed from
Rupy's International School due to security reason.
Since the Nepalese Constituent Assembly made a
historical decision on May 28 to abolish monarchy, his
children have been deprived of their studies due to security
reasons, said sources close to the palace.
Paras, who has the habit of frequently taking
narcotics, has been advised by his family members to visit
other countries instead of Singapore, where he is likely to be
caught, the report said.
The family has also warned him of misbehaviour from
the Nepalese in Singapore, the daily adds.
Meanwhile, Nepalese media has said that the father and
son did not share a healthy relation, the reason why Gyanendra
preferred to reside in Nagarjun hill retreat instead of
staying with Paras at Nirmal Niwas in Kathmandu.
The report also claims that when the People's Movement
climaxed, Paras had asked his embattled father to abdicate in
his favour, just as the former king of Bhutan, Jigme Wangchuk
had done.
Paras had claimed that he would be able to overturn
the wave of public sentiment against the institution of
monarchy once he is ascended to the throne. But his proposal
was turned down by Gyanendra. PTI
