US-West, desperate in anti-Iran propaganda, dating claims to 1980s

Tehran, March 16, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Monday that western media are deperate in anti-Iran propaganda and have currently dated the alleged Iranian pursuit of bomb to 1980s.
He made the remarks in reaction to the recent claims by the U.S. media including Radio Farda that Iran attempted to acquire a bomb from Pakistan in 1980s.
They also maintained that based on the statements of Abdul Qadir Khan, the nuclear father of Pakistan, one can claim that Iran was seeking an atomic bomb that time.
Mehmanparast told IRNA that the US is trying to deny the Iranian nation of its nuclear rights.
He said that the Americans are seeking to stir up Iranophobia and that they want to justify their military presence in the region by raising Iranophobia.
He pointed his finger to Radio Farda as one proponent of the anti-Iran media campaign and said that the reporters had better listen to news from authentic sources because Radio Farda report contradicts Abdul Qadir Khan’s earlier remarks.
Abdul Qadir Khan, himself, has rejected such claims as false, Mehmanparast said.
Tehran has on several occasions declared that it does not want weapons of mass destruction and considers such claims as mere propaganda campaign./end
