TECHNICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL RENOVATION STARTS AT EMC
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. Erdenet Mining Corporation reported that it is going to install automatic machine LL-20 by Laempe firm in Germany, a world leader in manufacturing foundry equipments.
The shop has fabricated foundry bar of the casting products manually by 8 bar makers; one bar is prepared in 10 minutes and dried up for 2 or 3 hours in furnace inside temperature of 200OC. By replacing those automatic machines, it can produce qualitative products with high densities and smooth surfaces within 15-30 seconds only.
Currently, the construction work of pump station for stipulating vacuum condition was completed. 4 pumps are underway of installation. The semi-automatic equipments are manufactured in Ukraine. The collectives of the shop plans to produce 5400 tons of cast products in 2010. Last year, the shop fulfilled the plan to produce necessary parts of production equipments including mill armors, teeth of excavator buckets, bulldozer blades, etc., by 103 per cent.
Foundry shop of Machinery Repair plant is able to abandon the former method to cast hard foundry bar using carbon with mixture of fluid glass and sand. By the technological renovation, chemical method to make the foundry bar hardened itself at normal temperature 25OC is going to be introduced. Thus, working condition with much dust and sand will be improved; sand consumption will decrease; and time saving or labor efficiency will be improved respectively. The extension and renovation of the shop, non-stop operated, is based on multi-year studies and objectives, and will operate the modern equipments in their full capacities coming 2 years.
Erdenet Mining Corporation is one of the biggest Ore mining and Ore processing factory in Asia. Erdenet Mining Corporation (EMC or Erdenet) was established in accordance with an agreement between governments of Mongolia and (former) Soviet Union. It started its operation in 1978. The main mineral deposit, extracted by the Corporation was the Erdenetiin-Ovoo area which locates 400 kilometers northwest from Ulaanbaatar, 180 kilometers east from Darkhan city, 60 kilometers northern from Center of Bulgan aimag and 140 kilometers from Russia. The Erdenet is connected with East-Siberian railway network via Naushki station and to the Chinese railway network through Erlyan (Chinese border).
EMC has established promising collaborations with leading mining experts from Phelps Dodge, Inc.; Outokumpu Oyj, Finland; Bateman Engineering Ltd., Australia; Pacific Ore Technology Ltd., Australia; Brook Hunt & Associates Ltd., UK; KDEngineering, USA; Samsung Corp., South Korea and the world's other mining leaders.
