Iranian journalists urge UN to act on release of Ma'souminejad

Tehran, March 13, IRNA – Tens of Iranian journalists signed a petition addressed to the UN office in Tehran against arrest of TV reporter Hamid Ma’souminejad.

The petition is to be sent to the UN office in Tehran once it is completed.

The petition, titled “We Are Iranian Journalists”, called on the Italian government to free Ma’souminejad without any conditions.

It said western countries violated their empty human rights slogans and arrested a member of Iran's media family.

By signing the petition letter, the Iranian journalists expressed their support for the arrested Ma’soumenejad.

Condemning the arrest of the Iranian TV correspondent, they also urged international bodies and human rights institutions to break their silence on the issue.

Ma’souminejad was arrested by Italian police over 10 days ago for false accusations.

The arrest was strongly condemned by Iranians, the country’s media members in particular./end
