Saudi Arabia denies Gates’ remarks on Iran

Tehran, March 13, IRNA – An official source in Saudi Arabia has denied US Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ allegations that Saudi Arabia is ready to use its influence on China to convince Beijing to support new sanctions on Iran for its nuclear activities.

Saudi Arabia official News Agency (SPA) quoted a Saudi official source as saying that Gates’ remarks which have been reported by international news agencies ‘are not true at all’ and these issues have not been discussed in Gates’ visit to Saudi Arabia.

Gates visited Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. He then flew from Riyadh to Abu Dhabi on Thursday where he told reporters that Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are ready to support new sanctions against Iran./end
