NA'L CONSUMER PRICE INDEX INCREASES

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ In February 2010, the national consumer price index increased 3.0 percent compared with the previous month, by 5.4 percent compared with the end of 2009 and by 8.3 percent against the same period of the previous year, respectively.
The national aggregate index of food and non-alcoholic beverages group increased by 6.2 percent which was major contribution to an increase in the overall index by 3.0 percent, compared with January, 2010. Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco group increased by 0.3 percent, clothing, footware and cloth group by 1.5 percent, furnishings, household goods group by 1.1 percent, health group by 0.1 percent, communication group by 8.4 percent, recreation and culture group by 0.6 percent, restaurants and hotels group by 2.9 percent and the prices of miscellaneous goods and service group rose by 1.0 percent, respectively.
Meantime, the prices of housing, water, electricity and fuels group decreased by 0.1 percent, transport group by 0.9 percent, and prices of education group were stable. In February 2010, compared with the previous month, the Consumer Price Index went down by 0.2 percent in Umnugobi aimag and the remaining 20 aimags and the capital city Ulaanbaatar increased in a range of 0.3-7.7 percent.
