BANK OF MONGOLIA REPORTS MONEY SUPPLY INCREASING
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ According to the report of the Bank of Mongolia, the money supply (broad money or M2) expanded to 2960.0 bln.togrogs at the end of February 2010. It is an increase of 89.0 bln.togrogs or 3.1 percent over the previous month, and the increase of 645.2 bln.togrogs or 27.9 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
At the end of February 2010, currency issued in circulation reached 352.3 bln.togrogs and increased by 1.5 bln.togrogs or 0.4 percent compared with the previous month, and decreased by 45.0 bln.togrogs or 11.3 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
The loans outstanding at the end of February 2010, amounted to 2682.0 bln.togrogs, and increased by 7.6 bln.togrogs or 0.3 percent compared with the previous month, decreased by 3.3 bln.togrogs or 0.1 percent compared with the same period of 2009.
At the end of February 2010, the principals in arrears increased by 20.3 bln.togrogs or 16.6percent over January 2010, reaching 142.8 bln.togrogs which was 5.3 percent of the total loans outstanding, and increased by 0.2 bln.togrogs or 0.1 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. At the end of February 2010, the nonperforming loans reached 442.5 bln.togrogs, which was 16.5 percent of the total loans outstanding, and it went down by 15.7 bln.togrogs or 3.4 percent over the previous month, and increased by 243.9 bln.togrogs or 2.2 times compared with the same period of the previous year.
