PRESIDENT TO COMMISSION BERBAK BRIDGE IN JAMBI
Jambi, June 28 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to inaugurate the Berbak bridge, in East Tanjung Jabung district, Jambi, Indonesia, on Sunday, June 29, Jambi Governor H Zulkifli Nurdin said here on Saturday.
The governor said besides inaugurating the bridge, the president would also open the 15th National Family Day (Harganas) and the People's Service Month (BBGRM).
He said that the president and party was scheduled to arrive at Jambi's Sultan Thaha airport at 8 am.
After taking a rest for an hour at the governor office, the president and party will head by land to Muarasabak, the district town of East Tanjung Jabung, some 125 km east of Jambi, to open commemoration of the Harganas day and the BBGRM.
Previously, the president was also slated to inaugurate the Batang Hari bridge but this event was canceled because the bridge's construction was not yet fully completed.
The construction of the Berbak bridge, with a length of 369.33 meters and a width of 9 meters, was started in 2003 and was basically finished in 2007. It was constructed at a cost of Rp79.5 billion.
Located in Simpang village, Nipah Pandjang sub-district, the bridge was constructed to open access for the growth of Muarosabak port which was designed as a container port.
The Berbak bridge is about 40 km away from the Muarosakabak port or abuot 70 km from Jambi city.
