BODIES OF ALL CASSA CRASH VICTIMS SUCCESSFLLY LIFTED
Bogor, June 28 (ANTARA) - Rescue workers on Saturday evening successfully lifted the bodies of all the 18 crew members and passengers of the Air Force's Cassa N212-100 airplane which crashed in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, on Thursday.
"The bodies of all the victims have been lifted by the Rescue and Search (SAR) team. They are now waiting for evacuation to Halim Perdana Kusuma airport," Lt Col. Kasenda said at Halim Perdana Kusuma's control command post (Posko).
He said that at present, rescuers still faced difficulties to take the bodies from the hill down to the tactical command post in Tagal Lilin village, Bogor.
He predicted that the victims' bodies would arrive at Halim Perdana Kusuma airport base at 12 pm local time on Saturday.
The bodies are expected to be identified at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Force Hospital before they are handed to their families.
Previously, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force Rear Marshal I Gusti Made Oka said the bodies would be evacuated to Halim on Sunday.
In the meantime, the Indonesian Air Force has prepared two transport planes, Hercules C-130s, on Saturday evening to fly the bodies of the ill-fated Cassa's victims to their home towns.
Besides two Hercules aircraft, the Indonesian Air Force also prepared one Fokker 27 and one CN-235 from Halim Perdana Kusuma's Squadron II, Jakarta.
The four planes were now on standby at the apron of Halim Perdana Kusuma's air force base.
The Cassa N212-200 plane with 18 people on board crashed in Bogor on Thursday evening.
The aircraft left Halim Perdanakusuma airbase in Jakarta for Bogor for a training mission for aerial digital camera operators.
The Cassa N212-200 plane based at the Squadron 4 of Abdulrahman Saleh airbase in East Java, is a light cargo aircraft equipped with facilities for aerial photography and aerial surveys.
