Report about goals of Millennium's development in Kazakhstan

Astana, 28 June 2008, Khabar - A report about goals of the development of Millennium in Kazakhstan on 2007 was presented in Astana. This document was prepared under the order of Kazakhstan's government and representative office of UN.

In 2000 on the Summit of the Millennium heads of
states-members of UN defined the main goals which the world must achieve as
the liquidation of poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender
equality, reducing of children's death-rate, protection of motherhood, fight
against the diseases of the century and ecological stability. The results of
Kazakhstan reports were admitted by both local and foreign experts.

The poverty in Kazakhstan was liquidated in 2004 and in 2006 the poverty rate,
in comparison with 2005 was reduced in 2 times, problems of gender
inequality on the trade market is being solved, the epidemic of HIV is being
successfully restrained on the first stage and the government has increased
the financing into educational sphere. It was noted in the report that in
comparison with 2005 the expenses in 2007 have almost doubled and there are
all prospects from transmission to the new stage of development.

Haolyan Shu, resident coordinator of UN, RK:
- All goals are included into the programme of the development and
Kazakhstan has become the first country of the CIS and the Western Europe
which has publisheda report about the development of the Millennium in 2002.
And the most important thing is that Kazakhstan has reached first three
goals and the original version.

Nurlan Danenov, deputy of Minister for Internal Affairs, RK:
- Paying particular attention to the timely development of goals of the
Millennium the government of Kazakhstan has been integrated it into the
medium term programme of development until 2010 and also into branched
programmes of main ministries and departments. It is known that Kazakhstan
has already reached some coordinated goals of the development including
reducing of poverty, access to education and women's rights and also has
reached certain progress in achieving other goals. (Khabar Agency)
