Mottaki returns home from Kenya

Tehran, March 7, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who was in Kampala and Nairobi upon invitations by his Ugandan and Kenyan counterparts, returned home Sunday morning.

During his visit to Uganda, Mottaki discussed and exchanged views on bilateral ties with his counterpart Sam Kutesa as well as President Yoweri Museveni, whose country is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

In his visit to Kenya, Mottaki called mutual ties with Nairobi 'dynamic and growing'.

Mottaki, in a press conference with his Kenyan counterpart Moses Wetangula, said a quadrilateral meeting of Kenya, Iran, Somalia and IGAD Organization concerning finding a solution for Somalia crisis is held adding that the negotiation is a beginning for establishment of peace and stability in the region for settling Somalia crisis.

Mottaki also met with Somalia Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Jama and said that return of tranquility, stability and security can pave the ground for development, prosperity of countries in the east Africa.

The quadrilateral meeting started on Friday afternoon and according to Iran’s proposal it will be held in a rotating manner with participation of all IGAD members.

Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia are IGAD members./end
