YEMEN STRESSES NEED TO REVIEW PROGRESS IN MILLENNIUM GOALS

NEW YORK, March 06 (Saba)- Yemen stressed on Saturday the need to review the progress in the Millennium Development Goals' achievement and the obstacles that led to the failure of many countries to achieve those goals to be reached in 2015.

This came in Yemen's speech delivered by Yemen Permanent Reprehensive to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saidi on behalf of the Group of 77 and China at the UN General Assembly on the occasion of preparations for a summit to review the Millennium Development Goals scheduled to be held during September 20-23.

Yemen urged the international community to fulfill its commitments undertaken in the Millennium Summit in 2000, particularly in the areas of combating poverty, ensuring food and education for all, providing services of maternal and child health and strengthening the role of women and maintaining a sustainable environment.
