Iranian minister congratulates Uruguay on new president

Montevideo, March 6, IRNA – visiting Iranian minister of cooperatives in a meeting on Saturday felicitated Jose Mujica on his election as Uruguay’s new President.
Presenting a message of congratulations from Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the occasion, Mohammad Abbasi called for deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
On behalf of President Ahmadinejad, Abbasi invited, the Uruguayan president to visit Iran.
Meanwhile, Mujica called for improvement of cooperation between Tehran and Montevideo, particularly in the economic, industrial, agricultural and scientific fields.
He also urged Latin American states to end dependency on the big powers and hegemony as well, and towards this end the independent country of Iran can play an effective role./end
