BAKU HOST SEMINAR ON “NATO/PFP TRUST FUNDS�

Baku, 28 June, (AzerTAj)The seminar on “NATO/PfP Trust Funds� started Thursday in Baku with NATO member and partner countries, Mediterranean Dialogue member states and other countries.

Robert Simmons, NATO Secretary General`s Special Representative for the Caucasus and
Central Asia told of the Trust Funds.
Simmons pointed out 20 projects worth 40 mln euro had been to date implemented in Azerbaijan.

Since the start of the project, over four million mines have been
destroyed.

ANAMA (Azerbaijan Natioanl Mine Action) director Nazim Ismayilov said one of the
NATO/PfP Trust Fund projects is being implemented to destroy ordinances and mines in
Saloglu village of Agstafa region
Kamil Khasiyev, head of the Azerbaijan mission to the NATO Kamil Khasiyev said
NATO`s assistance to solve this problem is the indicator of existing cooperation
with the Alliance.

Deputy Turkish Ambassador in Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral noted Azerbaijan contributes
much to the international security system.
During the event, ANAMA showed the modern equipment used in demining operations.
