Iran-Turkey call for continuation of talks

Tehran, March 6, IRNA – The Iranian and Turkish presidents called for continuation of talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

In a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul on Saturday, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the two countries enjoyed growing relations.

Noting that Tehran and Ankara have held constructive talks on various issues so far, he said the global and regional developments provided a good opportunity for the two countries to work to establish peace and justice in the world.

Today, Iran and Turkey were moving towards progess and nothing could ever stop them, the president added.

The Islamic Republic of Iran supported the rights of its Turkish brothers in all international and regional bodies, Ahmadinejad said.

Meanwhile, president Gul said Turkey attached great importance to Iran and was keen to exchange views with Tehran on different international and regional issues.

Gul said Tehran-Ankara talks on important regional and international issues as well as on security, peace and international stability was to the interst of both countries.

He then called for further deepening of bilateral relations and said Turkey supported Iran's rights in international arenas./end
