UN says Pakistan playing important role in UN human rights system
Islamabad, June 28 PPI: Visiting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour says Pakistan is playing important role in UN human rights system.
Addressing news conference Friday in Islamabad, she said Office of UN High
Commissioner for Human Rights can make a positive contribution at this critical
juncture in Pakistan's transition to democracy.
Ms Arbour said she had `very positive'' and wide ranging meetings with President
Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Law Minister as well as
representatives of civil society. She welcomed that new Pakistan Government
expressed willingness to work with UHCHR.
