UNICEF hails Yemen's achievements in juvenile judiciary
SANA'A, March 03 (Saba) - UNICEF hailed on Wednesday Yemen's achievements in juvenile judiciary areas and child protection
programs supported by UNICEF and Yemen has ratified within the international Agreements.
During his meeting with Justice Minister Ghazi al-Aghbari, the UNICEF
representative in Yemen Aboudou Karimou Adjibade applauded the cooperation between
UNICEF and the Ministry
in 2009, wishing to be continued in 2010.
Adjibade highlighted the role the Ministry has played in developing the justice and
child protection systems legislatively and administratively, which is confirmed by
the
international reports presented to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
For his part, al-Aghbari affirmed the Ministry's concern on juvenile judiciary,
saying the Ministry is dealing with juvenile cases in a professional manner and in
acceptable
time.
The ministry is also paying more attention to juvenile delinquents in the
post-trial period, making clear that legislative amendments regarding the personal
status law and
determining the marriage age are on the parliament's table awaiting approval.
The Minister hailed the assistance the UNICEF present to Yemen in fields of child
protection and juvenile judiciary.
