AIR FORCE CASSA PLANE DISAPPEARS, THREE FOREIGNERS MISSING

Jakarta, June 27 (ANTARA) - Three foreigners aboard Indonesian Air Force Cass N212-200 aircraft remain missing after the plane disappeared at Mt Salak in Bogor, some 60 kilometers south of here, on Thursday.

"The missing foreigners -- identified as Mochtar Mahendra Kumar of India, Kwong Ping Anthoni of Britain, and Tan Hook of Singapore -- are the suppliers of Digital Mapping Camera Modular Items which are to be tried out in the Cassa N212-200 flight," Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Chaerudin Ray said here on Friday.

Chaerudin said that besides the three foreigners, three other Indonesian nationals of PT Aviao Gaya Perkasa were also missing in the accident.

Based in Squadron 4 of Abdulrahman Saleh military airport in Malang, East Java, the ill-fated Cassa N212-200 was equipped with several cameras for air survey.
The wreck of the ill-fated aircraft which was declared missing on Thursday afternoon, was eventually located in the Curug Nangka tourist resort at the foot of Mt Salak, Sukajadi village, Tamansari subdistrict, Bogor regency.

A National SAR team from Jakarta with the support of security personnel and the local villagers, had been combing the foot of Mt Salak since 6 p.m. to locate the wreck.

According to a security guard of the Curug Nangka camping site in Tamansari, Bogor, villagers heard a loud explosion above the forest at 11.30 a.m, but wandered what it was.

It was not until 5 p.m, the guard said, that throngs of people including soldiers, police personnel and civilians, were heading for Curug Nangka.

According to the camping site guard, an airplane went down, but the exact location was still being sought.
