POLICE NAME FIVE SUSPECTS IN TUESDAY'S ANTI-FUEL PRICE HIKE PROTESTS
Jakarta, June 26 (ANTARA) - Police have named five suspects in Tuesday's brutal anti-fuel oil price hike protests outside the parliamentary building and the Atmajaya Catholic University (Unika) campus here.
They were accused of committing mass attacks and vandalism while staging the rallies, spokesman for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said on Thursday.
Ketut said the suspects were identified as Jeffry Silalahi, Andy Rahmat, Ramson Purba, Sahala Napitupulu, and Agus.
Jeffry and Andy were arrested in Jakarta on Wednesday, while Ramson, Sahala and Agus shortly after an Avanza van was torched in the rally outside the Unika campus on Tuesday, he said.
Meanwhile, 13 people arrested in the brutal rallies outside the parliamentary building and the Unika campus had been released as they were not proven guilty of violence during the rallies, he said.
Police are interrogating 26 people arrested in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on similar charges, he said.
