Supreme Leader: Cultural strength supports national interest
Tehran, March 3, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Iran prefers to boost cultural strength in order to support national interest.
The Supreme Leader made the statement in a meeting with the minister of culture and Islamic guidance, the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and the Iranian cultural attaches aboard.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the cultural envoys abroad are expected to publicize the Islamic Revolution and the breakthrough it has made since its victory in Iran.
Undoubtedly, a genuine cultural approach will leave crucial impacts on various fields such as diplomacy, communications, trade and commerce, Ayatollah Khamenei added.
Referring to the strategies pursued by colonial powers to trample upon the rights of other nations, the Supreme Leader said that in an Islamic system which has roots in divine thoughts, cultural aspects of life should be publicized satisfactorily.
The Supreme Leader said that boosting cultural activities will bring solidarity and strength for the society.
"Cultural attaches abroad are the flag-barriers at international scene and that they have undertaken heavy responsibility of developing cultural interaction with other nations."
The global arrogance has launched a wide-scale propaganda campaign to tarnish the image of Islam, said the Supreme Leader adding that the fact is that they spare no efforts to shatter the real image of Islamic Revolution and to this end the responsibilities of the country’s cultural officials would be of prime importance.
"Ill-wishers and arrogant powers are to introduce a liberal or reactionary image of Islam to world nation but the concept of genuine Islam is much different in various aspects."
Highlighting the country’s significant scientific and cultural developments, the Supreme Leader called on cultural officials to properly introduce to other nations the progress Iran has made since triumph of the Islamic Revolution./end
