Six Iranian news sites protest against US-UK counterparts

Tehran, March 3, IRNA – Editors-in Chief of six Iranian news sites criticized their US and British counterparts in a letter on Tuesday for their biased coverage of last year's presidential elections in the country.
Heads of the Alef, Tabnak, Jahan, Khabaronline, Farda and Hamshahrionline news sites protested the “unprofessional attitude” of the US and UK media which added fuel to the civil riots in Iran after the June 12 presidential elections that lead to the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The letter was sent to editors of the USA today, Washington Post, Newsweek, International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, New York times, PBS, Guardian, Independent, Times, Daily Telegraph, Observer, Daily Express, Financial Times, Daily Mirror and Economist.
Referring to the existing 31-year-old misunderstandings between Iranian and US leaders, the Iranian journalists advised their US and British counterparts to act professionally and try to remove the existing misunderstandings between Iran and the US governments and avoid adding fuel to Iran-US problems by providing unrealistic reports.
They said that they sent the letter as editors of the Iranian media who act based on the laws and are independent and mostly critics of President Ahmadinejad’s government.
The letter is sent to you not to defend President Ahmadinejad’s government but to defend the ongoing realities in the Iranian society, read the letter.
It urged Western journalists to review their performances in the past eight months and let their professional conscience judge about the impartiality of their professional attitudes during the period./end
