Iran's judiciary to firmly deal with fire festival lawbreakers
TEHRAN, Mar. 1 (MNA) -- Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi has warned that the Judiciary and police forces will take firm action against people who cause unrest and disturb the peace during the celebrations of the Chaharshanbeh-Suri festival on March 16.
The Iranian traditional fire festival of Chaharshanbeh-Suri is celebrated on the last Tuesday night of the Iranian calendar year, which starts on March 21.
“We are not opposed to people’s happiness and amusement, but if some people seek to disturb the peace, damage public property, and allow their complexes to run wild, we will take legal action against them,” he said on Sunday.
On that night, some judges of the relevant courts will work a late shift to hear the cases as soon as possible, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that the Judiciary will also firmly deal with illegal fireworks wholesalers.
