Holbrooke was awaiting Rigi's arrival in Manas Air Base: Report

Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA, Independent news sources reported on Saturday that Abdolmalek Rigi, the terrorist who has been arrested by Iranian security forces, had planned to meet with Richard Holbrooke in the Manas Air Base in Kyrgyzstan.

The sources revealed this information after publication of Rigi’s confessions and other documents related to him.

An American journalist named Wayne Madsen has said Rigi had planned to meet Holbrooke in Manas Air Base near Bishkek.

Madsen’s comments have had extensive reactions in regional media but US officials have been silent about them.

Madsen said that Rigi had planned to meet with a ‘top ranking’ US official, suggesting that the official must have been Holbrooke who was in Bishkek to visit Manas Air Base.

Madsen said the meeting was arranged in Manas so that it cannot be revealed.

The American journalist has said Holbrooke and Rigi could not have met anywhere else because the news about it would have been disclosed easily.

US government says Holbrooke is Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, but independent news sources have revealed his role in consultations with terrorists in direction of US interests.
