Iran slams so-called human rights advocates for ties with Rigi

Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said Saturday that the newly disclosed relations between a notorious terrorist wingleader and the so-called advocates of human rights indicated the latters' dishonesty.

Mihman-Parast made the remarks while commenting on the newly-made confessions of Abdolmalek Rigi who was recently captured by Iranian security and intelligence forces.

He was running a terrorist group that was responsible for a series of deadly terrorist acts in southeastern Iran, the most recent being the killing of over 40 people, including five senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, in Sistan and Balouchestan province last October.

In his confessions broadcast by Iran's Press TV late Thursday, Rigi said that the US officials had equipped him with various arms, bombs and telecommunication equipment and told him that they had no problem with the terrorist al-Qaeda group.

He added that the US CIA leaders intended to support all anti-Iran organizations as they believed that making military invasion against the country was difficult.

The spokesman said that for the Iranian nation it has become a “normal” issue to see that the so-called advocates of human rights and those who claim to be in war against terrorism extend their support to terrorist groups and criminals like Rigi./end
