Malaysia calls for joint ventures with Iran

Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA – Representative of Malaysia’s Minister of Industries and Foreign Trade to D8 meeting said her country favored Iran’s participation in Malaysian industrial projects.

Vahid Nuruddin made the remark upon arrival in Tehran here on Saturday to participate in the first meeting of industry ministers of eight Muslim developing states (D8) which is to be held in Tehran from February 28 to March 2.

She believed Iran, too, should act as Malaysia which has a remarkable presence in Iran’s car industries and enter Malaysian industrial arena as a measure towards consolidating and enhancing mutual relations.

She further said the two countries of Iran and Malaysia had the potential for expand bilateral industrial relations within the framework of D8.

Nuruddin also noted that the present meeting in Tehran was expected to explore ways of boosting ties among D8 member states.

The D8 meeting in Tehran aims to utilize capacities in order to increase the influence of D8 countries in global industry.

Its member states include Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey./end
