No place for 'enemies of Iran' in Pakistan: ambassador
TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) - The arrest of terrorist ringleader Abdolmalek Rigi by the Iranian security forces would not have been possible without the help of Pakistan, Islamabad’s ambassador to Tehran said here on Wednesday.
“I must tell you that this did not happen without the help of Pakistan, and Pakistan will continue to support Iran,” Ambassador M.B. Abbasi told reporters at a press conference at the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran.
Ambassador Abbasi said the fact that the leader of the Jundullah terrorist group was captured while traveling from another country shows that there is no place for the enemies of Iran in Pakistan.
He went on to say that it made him upset that some media outlets and newspapers in Iran tried to give the impression that Rigi was given a refuge in Pakistan. He flashed the Iran Daily newspaper and said its reporting was totally wrong.
He added, “You’ll discover more in the coming days about how we cooperated with our Iranian brothers in this regard.”
“Yesterday was the happiest occasion for Iran as well as Pakistan, and I’ve been receiving a lot of congratulatory calls and thousands of emails and text messages from Pakistan (about the fact) that Rigi has been arrested,” he stated.
“I would also like to congratulate our Iranian brothers on this. Iran’s success is Pakistan’s success. And the arrest of Rigi proves that there is no place in Pakistan for enemies of Iran. And Rigi was arrested outside Pakistan. He was shown as traveling between Afghanistan and Dubai and other Central Asian countries.
“Pakistan has already shown its commitment by surrendering some other Rigi terrorists to Iran. One brother of Abdolmalek Rigi, Abdolhamid Rigi, has already been handed over to Iran by the Pakistani authorities. All this shows that we are with Iran and our relationship is friendly and brotherly. We are neighbors for a long time. Nobody can think that Pakistan can work against Iran,” Ambassador Abbasi noted.
“Pakistan itself is fighting a war against terrorists. There are many international terrorists groups working in Pakistan. These terrorists groups do not recognize any territory or border or nationality. There are some who carry passports from Egypt, Algeria, and some Central Asian countries. They have many fake passports and fake identity cards.”
“We are happy that the main terrorist leader has been arrested. And now we hope that no other terrorist group will ever again work against Iran.”
