Amsterdam to host Best of Iran Film Festival
TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) -- Several Iranian films will go on screen during the one-day Best of Iran Film Festival in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The festival has different sections including Short films of the Short Film Society, Best Shorts and a special section dedicated to the Iranian Cineaste Kamran Shirdel.
Renowned Iranian director Mehrdad Oskuii is the event’s guest of honor and will present three films created by his students at the Short Films section of the festival.
“Bread, Fire and the Old man” by Shahruz Tavakol, “Mobile in Tehran” by Loqman Khaledi and “Mission Impossible” by Abbas Amini will go on screen at this section.
The first documentary made in Iran under the title of “Golestan” (1900-1902) will also go on screen during the event. Created by Mirza Ebrahim Khan Akkasbashi, the film features the Qajar king Mozaffaredin Shah (1853-1907) in his palace.
A number of Iranian short films will compete at the festival and last edition short film winners “Cut” by Parisa Aminelahi and “Countdown” by Khatereh Hanachi will go on screen during the event.
Farzad Motamen’s acclaimed film “The voices”, “The Newcomers” by Kianush Ayyari and “No one knows about Persian cats” by Bahman Qobadi will also go on screen at the festival.
The gala will pay tribute to one of the founders of modern Iranian cinema, Kamran Shirdel (1939). His short documentaries “Women’s Prison”, “Women’s Quarter”, “Tehran is Iran’s Capital” and “The Night it Rained” will screen at the event.
