US renews support to Yemen in Riyadh conference
SANA'A, Feb.24 (Saba) – The United
States renewed on Wednesday its support to Yemen in the Riyadh conference on Aid to
Yemen
to be held in Saudi Arabia on February 27.
In his meeting held in Sana'a, the Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi and the Chief Operating Officer and the Executive
Secretary of
the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Alonzo Fulgham reviewed
aspects of the current cooperation between Yemen and the U.S. and means of boosting
them so
as to serve the common goals.
They also dealt with issues relating to the ongoing preparations for the convening
of the donors' conference in Riyadh.
The two sides stressed the importance of views consensus regarding the outputs of
the Riyadh conference to contribute to enhancing the flow of resource to finance
developmental
projects in Yemen, and improving the effectiveness of the assistance presented by
the GCC states and other donors to Yemen.
Al-Arhabi expressed his confidence that the Riyadh conference would contribute to
make a common vision between the Yemeni government and development partners towards
a common
definition for the new challenges that Yemen faces and to accelerate providing the
resources pledged by the donors.
He praised keenness showed by the U.S. to contribute effectively to reinforce the
efforts aiming to succeed the Riyadh conference on Aid to Yemen.
