UN name for Persian Gulf must be respected: Iranian official
TEHRAN, Feb. 25 (MNA) – The name Persian Gulf used by the United Nations must be respected by all countries, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has said.
Applying any other names to the waterway except the Persian Gulf is illegal, Ramin Mehmanparast told the Mehr News Agency.
The remarks by Mehmanparast came as certain biased media outlets and foreign officials use fake names for the Persian Gulf.
If the Persian Gulf name is distorted, Iran’s rights are violated, he noted.
