130 RIOTERS ARRESTED IN SOUTH AND EAST YEMEN THIS MONTH

SANA'A, Feb.24 (Saba) - Security authorities in the southern and eastern provinces of Dalei, Lahj and Hadramout provinces have arrested almost 130 rioters and destructive elements, the Interior Ministry has reported .

The arrests followed unauthorized walks in which demonstrators chanted anti-unity slogans, targeted private and public properties and attacked security forces at checkpoints and on streets.

The arrested were involved in subversion including rioting and road cuts and banditry with the aim to disturb the public security and spread hatred among the people, the ministry's Information Center said.

'Killing and subversion acts have no relationship with peaceful struggling; however, they are punishable crimes under Yemen's law.'

Hunting for destructive elements will continue until they are captured and brought to justice, the ministry vowed.

50 of the arrested were turned over to the Prosecution, it said, adding that nvestigations are ongoing with the others.
