Safavi: Iran plays influential role in region
Tehran, Feb 24, IRNA – Senior Advisor to the Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said Wednesday that Iran plays an influential and sensitive role in regional equations.
Addressing a meeting of police commanders and officials, Safavi said Iran enjoyed a specific “geopolitical weight” in the region due to its geographical position which is not comparable with other regional states.
“Given its political, economic, cultural and military effects, Iran plays an influential role in safeguarding regional peace and security in this sensitive region which also includes the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and Hormuz Straight,” said Safavi.
Foreign occupying powers present in the region should come to terms with the fact that they should accept Iran as a major effective power in the region, he stressed./end
