Majlis speaker criticizes IAEA performance on Iran

Tokyo, Feb 24, IRNA – Visiting Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani criticized the UN nuclear watchdog for its failure in transforming nuclear technology to its member states.
Larijani who is in Japan on a five-day visit, made the remarks Wednesday morning in a meeting with President of the Japanese House of Councilors (Upper House) Eda Satsuki.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency fails to deliver its commitments regarding Iran, especially those related to the supplying of nuclear fuel for Tehran’s Research Reactor, despite the fact that Iran has, so far, committed to all its obligations within the IAEA’s framework,” Larijani said.
He stressed that Iran was pursuing a nuclear program similar to its Japanese model which is using nuclear energy only for peaceful and civilian purposes./end
