Larijani: Iran-Japan, two influential nations in Asia

Tokyo, Feb 24, IRNA – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that Iran and Japan are two influential countries in Asia, adding that Tehran highly values its ties with Tokyo.

Larijani, who is in Japan on a 5-day visit, made the above statement in a meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Takahiro Yokomichi, on Wednesday morning in the venue of the House of the Representative building.

Considering the rich histories and cultures of the two nations, developing mutual ties would be beneficial to them, Larijani added.

Expounding on Iran’s peaceful nuclear policies, Larijani complained about the dual stand of a number of countries in this regard.

Takahiro Yokomichi for his part, by referring to the old ties between the two countries, hailed the 80th anniversary of the official relations between Iran and Japan which was commemorated last year.

Both sides underlined boosting of parliamentary ties. Larijani extended an invitation to his Japanese counterpart to visit Iran./end
