Deputy PM affirms importance of studying GCC market`s needs

SANA'A, Feb.22 (Saba) -
Deputy Prime Minister for Internal Affairs Sadiq Amin Abu Ras affirmed on Monday the
importance
of studying the needs of the GCC markets in order to set up training programs for
the Yemeni workers.
During his opening the events of the regional conference on Yemeni labor and the
GCC labor market requirements organized by Saba Center for Strategic Studies, Abu
Ras pointed
to the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Yemen and the GCC countries.
Yemen is full of the capable cadres to meet the work requirements, said Abu Ras
affirming that Yemen will do its efforts to take into account and implement the
conference's
recommendations on the ground.
For his part, the Representative of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Mohamed Dowd
pointed to the important and distinct role of the Yemeni labor force in the
integration
of the Arab labor force, praising the joint cooperation between the organization and
the three parts of production - the government, employers and laborers- and the
other
relevant parts in Yemen.
Dowd indicated that the organization, through the previous conferences on the
employment and training, has affirmed the need to work for developing the human
resources development
systems and implementing projects to reduce poverty and the integral employment
program approved by the Kuwait Economic Summit in January,2009.
Furthermore, Dowd stressed the necessity of the technical and vocational
preparation for the workforce as it is the basis for addressing the unemployment
and to provide
job opportunities for the new batches of workers annually, pointing that the rate of
unemployment at the Arab level exceeded 14 percent.
He noted the need for effective real-Arab cooperation, which aims to improve the
economic performance and the investment climate and focus on the development of
human resource
systems and the quality of the labor force and unleash the innovative and productive
potentials, especially among women and youth.
In this respect, Dowd expressed the ALO's readiness to effectively contribute to
the human resources systems development, narrow the gap between the outputs of
education
and vocational training and the needs of the Arab labor markets, promote the
employment issues and address the unemployment problems in the Arab World.
