EIGHT SOMALIS ARRESTED IN GULF OF ADEN

ADEN, Feb. 23 (Saba) - The coastguard forces in Gulf of Aden
arrested on Tuesday eight Somalis for entering the country illegally.

Security sources said that the arrestees were fishing on a Yemeni
boat in Khor Amira area of Lahj province, a source in coastguard
authority said.

They have been arrested by a routine patrol in the Yemeni regional
waters, the source said, adding that the act coming in the light of
the government's procedures to intensify its security and monitoring
in the waterways in order to reduce the illegal immigration
phenomenon.

The Somalis will be sent to the competent authorities in the Kharaz
area, which is under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for
Refugees, for investigations.
