Japan’s ambassador meets Iranian interior minister
TEHRAN, Feb. 23 (MNA) – Japan’s Ambassador to Tehran Akio Shirota held talks on Monday with Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar.
Shirota described Iran as an important country in the region and voiced Japan’s readiness to increase cooperation with Iran in settling regional conflicts.
He also said that Tokyo is ready to join Iran's campaign against drug trafficking through stricter border guarding.
The interior minister also said Iran’s strategy is to help promote peace and stability in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. The minister also said Tehran and Tokyo could cooperate to help stabilize the region.
Najjar said the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan has turned the country into a hub for transnational crimes including drug trade, human trafficking, and other organized crimes.
