Mottaki: Iran-Kenya Joint Economic Commission to be held soon

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA – Iran's foreign minister said here Monday in a meeting with visiting Kenyan assistant foreign minister that the two countries’ joint economic commission would be held in near future.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Information and Media Head Office, Manouchehr Mottaki further told Richard Onyonka in the meeting that “The two countries have shard stands on regional developments.”
Mottaki added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kenya have lots of potentials and this can provide an appropriate ground for bilateral cooperation.”
Mottaki referred to the continuation of bilateral consultations on various issues and emphasized on the need for implementing the joint economic plans.
Mottaki said that the upcoming months would be a very appropriate time for surveying the ways for further expansion of Tehran-Nairobi relations.
Richard Onyonka, for his part, referred to the existence of friendly relations between the two countries, adding, “Kenya is ready for comprehensive cooperation with Iran in various economic fields.”
He also proposed that the Iranian firms would participate in various projects in his country, including offering technical services and consultations.
The Kenyan assistant foreign minister at the end praised the role played by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Horn of Africa./end
