Official: Iran approach focuses on regional stability

Tehran, Feb 22, IRNA – Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on Monday that Iran’s regional approach has been focused on restoration of stability and security to the Persian Gulf as well as the Middle East region.

The Iranian interior minister made the remark in a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Tehran on Monday.

Iran spares no efforts to help restore peace and stability to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said.

Presence of alien forces has turned Afghanistan into a regional hub for drug and human trafficking, money laundering and organized crimes, he said, adding that Iran and Japan through collective cooperation can play a crucial role in dealing with such issues.

Wrong policies of the US as well as its presence in the region are the root causes of all problems, he said.

Much to our regret, the US has created numerous problems for people in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said, adding that Iran is doing its best to help these people and help restore regional stability, said the Iranian minister.

Close cooperation between Iran and Japan can serve to bring stability and security by increasing the volume of trade exchanges and economic cooperation with those states, Najjar said.

The Japanese ambassador, for his part, said Japan regards Iran as a very significant country in the region which can play a leading role in regional developments.

Japan is to fully cooperating with Iran in various fields such as restoration of security, campaign against drug trafficking and border control, he said.

The Japanese government as well as its nation appreciated Iranian officials for their efforts to release a Japanese national abducted in Kerman province last year, said the Japanese ambassador./end
