GARUDA PLANE HAS TIRE PUNCTURE ON TAKE-OFF
Jakarta, June 25 (ANTARA) - A tire of a Garuda Boeing 737-300 punctured when the plane was about to take off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport here at 7:45 Wednesday morning but nobody on board was hurt.
The aircraft was hurtling along the runway to take off for Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, when the accident happened.
Indra, the plane's pilot, said nobody among the 150 passengers and crew of Garuda flight GA 550 was harmed.
He said the plane was to have arrived at Tjilik Riwut airport in Palangkaraya at 9:26 a.m. local time but because of the mishap, the flight was canceled while its passengers were flown to Central Kalimantan's provincial capital by another Garuda jetliner at 10 am.
At least 49 people died and scores escaped when a Garuda jetliner Boeing 737-400 flight GA 200 overshot the runway and burst into flames on landing at Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta in March 2007.
The plane was carrying 133 passengers including a large group of Australian diplomat, government officials and journalists when it crashed in Yogyakarta at 7 a.m. after a scheduled flight from Jakarta.
