EARTHQUAKE JOLTS MUKO MUKO, BENGKULU, ON WEDNESDAY
Bengkulu, June 25 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Muko Muko District, Bengkulu Province, Sumatra Island, on Wednesday, at 2.14 am local time.
The earthquake's epicenter was located at 3,29 degrees southern latitude and 101,11 degrees eastern longitude, around 78 km southwest of Muko Muko, at a depth of 15 km below sea level, according to information of the Bengkulu geophysics and meteorological office here on Wednesday.
The province was rocked by a powerful earthquake in September last year, killing 15 people, severely wounding 12, and slightly injuring 38 others. More than 53,000 houses were damaged due to the earthquake.
