Mottaki: Tehran-Baku ties not against third country

Tehran, Feb 22, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that Iran-Azerbaijan ties are not against a third country.

“Iran and Azerbaijan have important status in foreign policy of one another and their relations are not against a third country. We will not allow others interfere in our relations,” Mottaki said in a meeting with Azeri Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov.

He said abundant commonalties and historical relations between the two countries have created many grounds for cooperation.

“We are happy with Tehran-Baku relations being supported by parliament speakers and representatives,” he added.

Asadov said for his part that cultural and spiritual bonds have provided a chance for promotion of Tehran-Baku ties.

He added that currently draft agreements have been worked out for legal and judicial cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Asadov said that one of the goals of his Iran visit is, in particular, to develop parliamentary relations./end
